Mask Gathering

In the summer of 2005 Mr. Gebhardt, drawing on his fascination with masks and the concept of identity, designed a series of 70 masks: Simple rectilinear, minimal geometric shapes. In September, 2005 Roland and architect Beverly Willis invited a diverse mix of friends and colleagues to attend a “Mask Gathering” at her townhouse on East 35th Street in Manhattan. Leni Schwendinger created immersive illuminated rooms for the event, bodly uplighting the walls with red, blue and green, effected by 300 votive candles.
